Kim has a genuine heart for loving our LGBT kids well, the way God loves us. I struggled with navigating my child coming out and not knowing how to build trust when my child was terrified. I longed for direction and guidance for how to walk this road, wanting to honor God while creating a loving and safe space for my child.
I felt very alone. . . when I finally met another parent who loved the Lord and was also walking this path, I felt such relief knowing I wasn't alone. Knowing my feelings were shared by someone else who understood what we were going through was very comforting.
I celebrate that Kim is offering tools and coaching for parents who, like me, needed some help from a friend who understands and knows what the tension of loving well and honoring God looks like. What a blessing and encouragement it will be for those families who are just beginning this journey. I am confident that there are many who will benefit greatly from Kim's heart to help families and honor God.

Kim is the real deal. She is walking the difficult road, both loving her son and honoring God, with minimal guidance from the church. She teaches us how to listen well to receive the truth of our kids’ experiences, to hold space for them without losing our faith. Kids are dying. We need to respond. Kim is inviting us to pivot with her.

My immediate response when I think about Kim, is that she is a woman with the gift of joy. This gift might have come easy if she knew a life of little pain, but Kim is well acquainted with life’s sufferings. She has endured with a more profound, more abiding joy from walking through darkness near her Savior. “God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks. It’s a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God” (The Message, Lamentations 3).
I have been privileged to call Kim my friend for close to thirty years. As young families raising our children together, I was often encouraged by Kim, who knew the importance of community in the Christian life. She and her husband led our small group with humility and joy that drew people together in authentic, deepening relationships.
Kim’s heart reflects Paul’s words in 2 Cor. 5:18-19, “Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” Reconciliation comes at a cost, a laying down of our swords so we can hear from the heart of others and “honor everyone” (1 Peter 2:17). Even when disagreements seem profound, she affirms we can still nod with an understanding of the person sitting across the table from us.
